It was an accident.  I needed to escape from the construction mess and treat myself to little retail therapy.  So off I went to one of my favorite activities - the nearest brocante (flea market) to search for a pretty glass decanter to display the violet syrup I had just made.  (Scroll down for the violet syrup recipe) At the brocante, I came across this pressed glass decanter.  It was simple yet elegant and looked like it would be perfect for the syrup, so I purchased it for 10 euros.   Looking at the bottom, I noticed it had a pontil, or the scar...

The day after the snow storm promised to be a gorgeous day.  And, on top of that, a Saturday! It reminded me of those rare times braving a snow storm while skiing, then all of a sudden the storm passes, the sun comes out and the fresh snow is glistening and there are no lines at the lifts and you have the runs all to yourself.  It was one of those kinds of days... There is always something.  Just when you think you are finally getting on top of things, something comes and messes it all up.
